When Will The College Tuition Bubble Burst? | The Consumerist
This seems important.
This seems terrifying.
Our infrastructure is crumbling, in every sense. Our farms are being killed off by massive factory farms owned by corporations that gouge when there’s no competition and abuse subsidies to put small farms out of business when there is, our roads are literally falling apart (highway 35 collapsed entirely!), our manufacturing jobs have been outsourced and our factories closed, our basic education system lags behind other countries, our workers wages have completely stagnated since the 1970’s and now our higher education is prohibitively expensive.
Too bad there’s nothing we can do! It’s not like we could deficit spend to fix these problems, then raise taxes on the top 5% of income earners who would benefit from this system, resulting in more wealth for EVERYONE, not just the poor or the middle class. The reason we can’t do this is because our upper class has become an insular, coddled and under educated group of people that have bought into their own propaganda. More and more I’m agreeing with Noam Chomsky that the Unites States is a failed state.
